Once upon a time in a far-off village, there lived a young shepherd boy. His daily task was to watch the village sheep in the nearby pastures. Although the boy enjoyed his work, he often found himself bored and lonely.

One day, the boy thought of a mischievous plan to amuse himself. He ran back to the village, crying out, “Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is attacking the sheep!” The villagers, alarmed by his cries, dropped their work and rushed to help him, only to find the sheep grazing peacefully. There was no wolf in sight. The boy laughed at their frustration, finding it funny.

A few days later, the boy repeated his trick. Once again, the villagers rushed out to help, but they found no wolf. The boy thought it was even funnier this time.

However, the villagers were not amused. They felt cheated and warned the boy not to repeat such a prank. The boy, not taking their words seriously, just laughed off their concerns.

A few days later, as the boy was tending to the sheep, a real wolf emerged from the woods. Terrified, the boy ran towards the village, crying, “Wolf! Wolf! Please help! The wolf is attacking the sheep!”

But the villagers had lost all trust in him after being tricked twice. They ignored his cries, thinking it was another deceitful game. No one came to help.

By the time the villagers realized that the boy was telling the truth this time, it was too late. The wolf had already scattered the flock and killed several sheep.

The boy was left feeling guilty and sad. He learned a harsh lesson about the consequences of lying and understood the wisdom of the saying: “Nobody believes a liar, even when he is telling the truth.”
